What is an M3U8 File?
An M3U8 file is a UTF-8 encoded plain text playlist used by media players to reference media paths for HTTP Live Streaming (HLS).
It contains index pointers to segmented media chunks for live broadcasting or video-on-demand (VOD). Modern browsers utilize Media Source Extensions (MSE) and Hls.js to decode and play M3U8 streams directly.
